Well. It’s the new year, which mean a new year to start makin’ resolutions and bakin’ cake-utions. 3 for 3! Well Donna and I are making our reg resolutions — lose 30 lbs, just like our angel, Rachel Ray. Donna likes to quip she already lost 230 lbs since she divorced that dirtbag husband of hers. But then I remind her that Jerry divorced her. She gets quiet then. And then really loud. And then very violent.

Any-restrainingorder, we’re gearing up for a great year of cakes and more. We’re gonna get into the swing of things soon! Promise! And our intern Petey is getting out of Juvenile hall this month, which is so exciting. Maybe his resolution this year will be to not set anything else on fire.

Well, until next time, here’s a cake baked over the holiday season! Santa brought me a new baking sheet this Xmas and I’ll let you know it was not a piece of sh-eet!  4 for 4!! It’s gonna be a good year.

July 5th, our dear pals Jessica Stickles and Ashley Hale have been nice enough to host Donna and myself to preview our show for the mass audience. We’re just so pleased and want you to join us in our celebration! It should be a fun time. And you can bet, since it is 4th of July weekend, that something spectacularly patriotic will be taking place. Get your flags and eagles ready for the fun! My sweet Gary will be on hand. He’s become a bit of a blogging star on grassmowersandmulchers.com. He’s my rock! And as per court order, Donna’s ex Jerry will be at least 500 yards away from the venue, so you know nothing will happen like what happened at their last summer pool party! Congrats John on recovering from the bullet wound!

It’s been a busy period in the life of ABC Cakes and the ABC Cake family. Donna is of course in the final stages of settling her divorce; her son Giancarlo is entering college; my daughter Amy has abandoned me in my house to live with her boyfriend in sin; my husband Jerry just bought a new riding mower and our new cake design show is only a mere month away from its preview. So needless to say, we’re all a little crazed right now.

But luckily, we had time to celebrate the birth of a friend a while back and wanted to post our work. We made our friend a cake in the shape of a lion. And because we’re saucy ladies (ha ha ha!) we had the lion “shotgunning” a beer. I guess that’s what the younger generation calls it. Our generation calls it “dirtaying” a beer. Oh well.

Also, since the Kenilworth Lions Club are frequent visitors to this site (we do all their cake events) our inbox was flooded with angry emails from them. The one email they sent us had quite the stern wording with no exclamation points, so clearly we knew they were upset.

To make it up to them, we invited them over for chicken wings and this special chicken wing cake.

We only wish we could make you interwebbers a cake to make up for Petey’s vulgar language. If you email us with your address, we’ll send you a sticker!

This is Pete. Donna’s nephew/intern. Just wanted to put in a quick shout out about the upcoming premiere of D&D’s show scheduled tentatively for July 5th. More info as the date approaches. I know everyone in the Lobiutto family is waiting for it, since we’ve put a lot of money and time…especially after school time where I could be getting dates. Interwebbers, do you realize while my friends Jack and Paul are getting Heej’s from girls, I’m here blogging about cakes. If there’s one thing you should know about Kenilworth that isn’t included on the website about our town, it’s that the girls here love giving it out.

I guess her friend likes shirts that have hipster (whatever that means) phrases on it. So I wrote what came to mind, which in the end turned out to be a shirt I would wear proudly. Because it certainly DID take 40 years to get as sassy as I am.

We designed this cougar cake in honor of our friend Ashley who is nicknamed Cougar. Ha! We came up with that nickname on our own. Oh that’s funny. We’re really funny ladies. Sometimes we even go to Starbucks and watch for men to walk by…just like in Sex in the City!!! We’re our own version in Kenilworth, NJ!!! Oh we’re so Carrie!

This cake features a marble cake with buttercream frosting, dyed different colors. Also please notice the graham cracker hammer and shield, representing justice.
